Movie Connection(s):
Follows: The Hunger Games (English)
Follows: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (English)
Follows: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (English)
Goofs:
Continuity
When Katniss is talking to Boggs alone out in the square, the shot goes back and forth from showing her face to showing Boggs'. Katniss's hair moves from on top of her hood to inside of her hood between shots.

Continuity
Katniss and Haymitch have a conversation near the end of the film. In this scene, Katniss' costume has a large brass slider on its zipper in tight closeups. But the zipper has no slider in the wider shots.

Miscellaneous
In the end of the movie when Katniss goes back to live in district 12 her sister's cat is seen to be in the house, but in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 she clearly takes the cat back to district 13 for Primrose.

Revealing Mistakes
Most of the entire film when Katniss loads up her arrow, the fletching (cock feather) is facing the wrong way as it is pointing down instead of up. Doing so, the fletching will make contact with the arrow rest on the bow and the arrow will not shoot accurately and instead flexes.

Revealing Mistakes
The color contact lenses Julianne Moore wears for her role as President Alma Coin are clearly visible during a conversation with Plutarch Heavensbee, when they are looking at the screen after The arrival of Katniss in the Capitol.
Trivia:
Fourth movie in the series.

The final scene of Mockingjay Part 1, where Katniss wakes up and learns Peeta has been hijacked (after he tries to kill her) was originally intended to be the opening scene of this film, but during production, the filmmakers decided ending Part 1 after Peeta is knocked out by Boggs and the screen cuts to black was too big a cliffhanger for general audiences, so it was added after that instead.

Jennifer Lawrence accidentally revealed that her nephews are playing Katniss and Peeta's sons during Comic-Con 2015.

In a interview, Elizabeth Banks said that in this film she will get to wear Effie's over the top outfits again.

In the book, six main characters die.

In the book, Katniss joins Star Squad 451 to assassinate President Snow, but only 5 out of 18 members survive to the end.

Actress Meta Golding is set reprise her role as Enobaria, Victor of the 62nd Hunger Games. Her character previously appeared in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013) as one of the victors in The 75th Hunger Games and Third Quarter Quell. Although her character did not appear in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1(2014), she Peeta, Annie, and Johanna were rescued toward the end of Mockingjay Part 1. She is the Victor who had her teeth filed into fangs to rip tributes throats out.

In the book Mocking Jay, it was Katniss Everdeen's prep team (Flavius, Venia, and Octavia) who were at district 13 instead of Effie. Effie's last part in the book series was in Catching Fire. In the movies, the prep team was very seldom shown, so they went with Elizabeth Bank's more popular character, who had become such a big part of the on-screen series.

Philip Seymour Hoffman's final film.

Director Francis Lawrence stated that because some of the visual effects sequences in this film are so challenging, he and the editors began work on them before part 1 of the Mockingjay adaptation was even released.

Final installment of the series.

The final trailer to both this movie and this franchise was released on October 6th 2015.

The main trailer of the movie will be released on the 24th of July 2015.

According to Francis Lawrence, the film's first-cut running time was 2 hours and 51 minutes, but the final cut's running time is set to be 2 hours and 16 minutes, making it the third longest installment in the franchise.

Will be released in 2D and IMAX in the United States. Internationally will be released in 2D, 3D, RealD 3D and IMAX 3D.

The only film in the series to be released in 3D.

The movie features 5 Academy Award Nominated Actors who have a total of 15 nominations total. The actors are Jennifer Lawrence (Winter's Bone, Silver Linings Playbook, and American Hustle), Woody Harrleson (The People vs. Larry Flynt and The Messenger), Julianne Moore (Boogie Nights, The End of the Affair, The Hours, Far From Heaven, and Still Alice), Philip Seymour Hoffman (Capote, Doubt, Charlie Wilson's War, and The Master), and Stanley Tucci (The Lovely Bones). Of the 15 performances, 3 are Oscar-winning ones: Philip Seymour Hoffman for Capote (2005), Jennifer Lawrence for Silver Linings Playbook (2012), and Julianne Moore for Still Alice (2014).

Liam Hemsworth said that this film "might be the best in the series" and "never lets up" in its action.

When doing interviews Jennifer Lawrence could say very little about the films as they filmed Mockingjay Part 1 and 2 at the same time.

The main theme song from the movie is considerably to be performed by M83, as the final trailer clearly shows.

Lily Rabe was originally cast to play the role of Commander Lyme

Many of the Capitol scenes were shot in Paris and Berlin.

On February 6, 2015, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer revealed that there could be a potential fifth film in the Hunger Games franchise - a sequel or a prequel.

There were plans to release the film globally in 3D, but they were ultimately scrapped for the U.S. release.

The first line heard from Mockingjay Part 2 was Katniss's line, "Tonight, turn your weapons to the Capitol!" This was released with a teaser trailer showing the Mockingjay logo transform from the original Mockingjay in the first movie all the way to the new Mockingjay in Mockingjay Part 2.

Jena Malone who plays rebel & victor Johanna Mason is set to have the most screen time with Jennifer Lawrence in this last installment in the franchise.

Considered by director, Francis Lawrence, as the most violent Hunger Games film out of the 4.

The new Mockingjay logo for Part 2 can be found at the end of Mockingjay Part 1 after the end credits.

Gwendoline Christie replaced actress Lily Rabe as the Commander Lyme character in the film. Rabe was forced drop out due to a scheduling conflict with a previous commitment to perform in "Much Ado about Nothing" at Shakespeare in the Park.

Gwendoline Christie and Natalie Dormer also co-star in Game of Thrones (2011)

Stars 3 Academy Award winning actors: Jennifer Lawrence won in 2013 for Silver Linings Playbook and Julianne Moore won in 2015 for Still Alice. Additionally, the late Philip Seymour Hoffman won his Oscar in 2006 for Capote.

James Newton Howard (the artist behind the music of the franchise) celebrated his birthday the day the teaser trailer was released.
