This evocative family drama revolves around the trials and triumphs in the life of Govindankutty (Mohanlal), a sincere young man whose single mother has gone through great difficulties and made immense sacrifices to bring him up well. Having watched his mother suffer alone, a great deal of bitterness and hatred have settled in his heart for the father he has never seen. Consequently, he makes a vow to seek his father out and exact revenge upon him by killing him for abandoning his mother and himself. At this critical juncture, a wealthy trader Anantha Subramaniam (Sivaji Ganeshan) comes to Govindankutty's hometown and likes him instantly for his loyalty and honesty. Despite the age difference between them, the duo developed a special bond of friendship and camaraderie, that is almost too good to be true. It is only when when Govindankutty's mother recognizes Anantha Subramaniam as her long-lost husband and reveals his true relationship to Govindankutty, that rage burns within him once more for what he deems to be another betrayal. Will Govindankutty act upon his vow to kill his father or will his emotions drive him to seek a peaceful compromise?
