A Sadhu goes against his guru's word, marries a woman named Tulsi and after his wedding night, he boards a train with her. During the journey the Sadhu i.e, Vithal feels empty and leaves his wife in the train and goes back to his Guru to join his spiritual life and see god and reach enlightenment. Tulsi searches for her husband and in vain, waits everyday at the station waiting for his return. The stationmaster pities her and helps her start a food stall, but that venture also fails as the owner ruins her business and Tulsi suffers more. Tulsi didn't give up on her husband and continued to wait for her husband, and the master allowed her to live with him. Vithal asks his guru for enlightenment, for which he never answers, but sends a childless couple to him for seeking a solution and passes away. Vithal gets his answer as he committed a sin, and leaves after 14 years of gap to return to his wife who waits for him, but is almost sick and dying.
