Oka Challani Rathri (1979)

This revealing tale revolves around the twists and turns in the life of Nirmala, a beautiful young woman from a middle-class family. She is deeply in love with Murthy, the man who is chosen by her family to become her husband. The family allows Nirmala to travel to Madras with Murthy, where he works.

The young couple are unable to resist temptation and end up having premarital sex one night. Soon, they get married with the blessing of all their family members.

Over a period of time, their love becomes so intense that Murthy begins to fear losing her to someone else and becomes suspicious of her. On one occasion, he comes home in disguise and tries to test Nirmala's fidelity. Nirmala, for her part, loves Murthy with all her heart and is shattered by Murthy's suspicious behaviour and lack of trust.

Then, in a tragic twist, Murthy is injured in an accident and becomes a paraplegic who is unable to use his legs and dependent on a wheelchair for mobility. Will Murthy ever regain the use of his legs?
