This deeply socially relevant drama is highly insightful and provides a uniquely comedic portrayal of the class and skill hierarchies that are formed at workplaces. It also delves into the sensitive subject of discrimination and sexual harassment against women employees by superiors.
These important social issues are shown in a humorous light through the example of three women from different strata of society: Janaki (Urvashi) a typist who lives with her husband and her baby, and must work to earn a living as her husband lost his job in a factory. Pappamma (Rohini) is a house keeper who lives with her drunkard, rickshaw-pulling husband and earns for both their living and her husband's drinking expense. Satya (Revathi), is a computer graduate and designer, seeking an ideal groom for marriage. When a prospective groom's family demanded a very high dowry, she voluntarily stops the marriage, as she doesn't like the idea of being sold or bargained for.
The crux of this movie is the friendship that forms between these three women, and how they deal with the menace of the manager at the fashion export company where they all work.
