Degrade (2016)

Set against the historic background of the Gaza Strip, this telling tale revolves around a women's beauty salon, run by Christine.

On a hot summer's day, Christine is busy dealing with a busy stream of clients as on this day there is electricity for the salon to be fully functional.

Amongst her clients are a bride-to-be, a pregnant woman, a bitter divorcee, a devout woman and a drug addict, all looking to have some pampering and a day of leisure.

However, their session is disrupted when gunfire breaks out across the street. A gangland family has stolen the lioness from Gaza's only zoo, and Hamas has decided that it's time for revenge.

Imprisoned within the salon, with the prospect of death drawing ever nearer, the women start to panic. What will the future hold in store for them? Will their lives become part of the collateral damage for someone's attempt to 'liberate the lioness'?
