Chhupi Chhupi Ashey (1960)

A movie "highly influenced" by Christie's Mousetrap. A woman, ex manager of an orphanage is murdered by a man in overall. On the way he is stopped by a laborer for a matchbox, and there he drops a paper, a handbill of a hotel-resort. The labors give this handbill to police. The hotel resort is run by a very young couple (not yet hitched), Kanika (Tapati) and Prabir (Robin). The river is flooded and the hotel is marooned. Just before it becomes unreachable, a series of guests arrive, some expected, some unexpected. An old arthritic man Beni (Chhabi), a man with car broken down Veeraswami (Jahar Ganguli), a choleric spinster Miss Dhar (Sushama), a semi-crazy young man Madhusudan Dutta (Prabir Kumar), an short tempered doctor Vajpayee (Samar) and a spirit (the house is haunted). In that condition the policeman Inspector Ghoshal (Tarun) arrives.
