This socially relevant drama delves into the exploitation of impoverished labourers by greedy businessmen. Shankar is a hard-working family man. When Rama Raja Rao and Balwanth Rao, who are coal businessmen, treat their labourers in an abusive and callously demeaning way, Shankar becomes very angry. When Shankar vociferously protests against the mistreatment, the owners exact revenge upon him by having him beaten to death.
Shankar's wife and only son witness this terrible injustice and try to escape. The owners send their thugs behind them, but after chasing for a while they decide to report to the owners that they succeeded in catching and murdering them as well.
Many years later, an enigmatic and fearless young man, Bhagavan comes into town to exact revenge upon the owners – Balwanth Rao and Rama Raja Rao, who have remained as corrupt and greedy as ever. Will Bhagavan turn out to be a messiah for the oppressed labourers? Can he bring them together and inspire them to fight for their rights?
