Aakasha Ganga (1999)

Manikyasseri family is an ancient Hindu family. The young son Devan falls in love with the housemaid Ganga and gets her pregnant. When he expresses a wish to get married to her, the rest of the family members are appalled. They cremate her while she is still alive. Ganga begins to haunt their family and all of the members get killed including Devan who commits suicide. Fearing her powers the Manikyasseri family hires an exorcist, 'Mepaddan' who imprisons her soul in the Banyan tree. The soul will stay in the tree on the condition that the members of the family become celibate for life. Her soul is freed from the tree by a college girl Maya who happens to be on a vacation. Maya is possessed by Ganga and she seduces Unni, the young son of the Manikyasseri family and gets to marry him on the condition that they don't consummate their relationship. Maya becomes pregnant with Unni's child and kills the people of the Manikyasseri family as well as the people who identify her. An exorcism is performed to free Maya from the shackles of Ganga by pretending to burn her alive. Maya wakes up in the hospital and learns that she is freed from the spirit of Maya and is a mother-to-be.
