Trivia:
The film was initially named after the famous con artist Natwarlal, who was offended by this. Natwarlal's lawyer sent a legal notice to the producers and the film was re-titled Mr. Natwarlal just days before its release.

It is said that after watching the crackling Amitabh-Rekha chemistry in the film, Jaya Bachchan issued an ultimatum to Amitabh to stop seeing Rekha.

This was superstar Amitabh Bachchan's singing debut with the song "Mere Paas Aao".
