This insightful documentary revolves around two young boys, Rubel and Sofikul who were once neighbours, but erosion caused by the river Ganges swept their homes away. Now both of their families have made their new home on Char, a small island in the Ganges, on the border between India and Bangladesh. Surrounded by the river on all sides, the young boys are part of a community of landless nomads, trying in vain to bring back their settled lives from the past, in this barren field controlled by the border police. At the young age of 14, Rubel is forced to forego his dreams of returning to his old school in India and begin smuggling rice from India to Bangladesh. He has to cross the river Ganga acting as the international border. However, he must battle against nature as monsoon clouds arrive inviting the flood, the river swells up again. 'Char may disappear but we wont', smiles the boy.
