The epic action of 'Edge of Tomorrow' unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.
Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.
But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.

Pursuant to that, she told the director that she won’t do her action scenes herself – which she did before that happened – but she didn't tell anyone the reason. Only Tom Cruise knew that. She told the press that only her husband, Tom Cruise and one of her close friends knew about that.
The shady, dusty, kick-ass car used in the movie is Citroen CX – a 1974 model manufactured by Citroen. They had sold over 1.2 million cars of this model during the 16 years.
Edge of Tomorrow is based on the novel All You Need is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. In fact, for several months pre-production, the movie was titled as All You Need is Kill. It was renamed later to give it a more cinematic or commercial title.
Jeremy Piven's character was added during re-shoots.

Tom Cruise began pre-production on the film on July 20, 2012, less than a week after wrapping his film Oblivion (2013).
